About the CERO One

Who is the CERO One Electric Cargo Bike for?

The CERO One is for anyone who wants a compact bike that can do a little bit of everything. If you're looking commute by bike, drop off a child at preschool, go grocery shopping, run errands, deliver food, get exercise, or just have a good time, the CERO One is for you!

Does the CERO One come in different sizes?

The CERO One is designed to accommodate all genders of riders of many sizes via seat and stem adjustments. We recommend the bike for riders with a height between 5’2” and 6’4”.

How can I adjust the stem?

The Satori stem riser can be adjusted up to 70mm up and down, and the stem angle can be further adjusted to your comfort as well. Check out this handy video or contact us for help!

Can I transport my bike on vehicle hitch mounted bike racks?

Yes. Your bike can be mounted on different available carrier systems such as the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE. Make sure that the racks can sustain the weight of the CERO One and accommodate the large tires.

How much does the bike weigh?

The bike with the battery mounted weighs 58.2 lbs. For more information, download the complete specs here.

Does the bike have any lights?

Yes. The CERO One comes with a white front light and a red rear light powered by the e-bike battery. To turn the lights on and off, press the headlight button on the right side of the computer display.

Does the bike come with a lock?

Yes. An ABUS Frame Lock comes with every bike. This lock is attached to the bike frame and allows you to lock the rear wheel, preventing it from spinning. The bike’s battery is also locked, using the same key as the ABUS Frame Lock. We always recommend using an additional lock, like the ABUS Chain Lock or a u-lock, to secure the bike to a fixed object.

Do I need a driver license or insurance to operate your bike?

No. The CERO One is a Class 1 electric bike, which means that in most places it is legally considered the same as a regular bicycle, so neither a driver's license nor insurance are required. However, laws regarding pedal-assisted e-bikes vary from country to country and place to place. Please consult local regulations before riding your bike.

I have seen e-bikes that sell for as little as $500, why does the CERO One cost more?

The CERO One is built with with high-quality, durable components to help the bike last longer and be more reliable. Most inexpensive e-bikes use cheap electric motor systems, but we pride ourselves in using the Shimano STEPS system, so you can be sure of its dependability and durability. The CERO One also features a cutting-edge new drivetrain system using Gates Carbon Drive belt and Shimano Inter-5E internal hub gears which provide smooth and nearly silent shifting with little to no maintenance.

What is the ideal tire pressure?

The CERO One comes with Schwalbe Big Ben Plus tires, which should be inflated to 30 to 55 PSI (2.00 to 4.00 bar). The best and safest way to inflate a bicycle tire to the correct pressure is with a hand or foot bicycle pump which has a built-in pressure gauge.

Where can I get a copy of the Owner's Manual?

All CERO Manuals and component manuals for both versions of the bike can be found on the Manuals page.

Shimano e-Bike System

How far can I go on a single charge?

The battery range varies depending on several factors: cargo loads, rider weight, assist mode, terrain, etc. According to Shimano, you can expect to go 53 miles per charge on High mode, 74 miles per charge on Normal mode, and up to 105 miles per charge on Eco mode. For more information, see the Shimano E6100 overview here.

How long does the battery take to charge?

Charging time for our 504 Wh battery from 0%, it takes 4 hours for an 80% charge and 7.5 hours for a 100% charge.

How do I charge the battery?

The bike comes with the EC-6002 charger that you can connect to any 100 V - 240 V AC, 50 - 60 Hz outlet. You can either connect the charger directly to battery while mounted on the bike, or remove the battery and charge it on its own.

How long can I expect the battery to last?

Shimano STEPS utilizes a long-life battery to maintain sufficient output, even after 1000 full charging cycles. It has been designed with year-round conditions in mind to exhibit the performance necessary in both the heat and the cold. After 1000 cycles, performance will decline but the battery will still be usable.

Can I buy extra batteries?

If you ever need to buy an extra battery, please contact CERO directly.

What is a mid-drive motor?

A mid-drive motor powers the crank of the bike directly, giving you a smooth boost with each pedaling motion. The system features three sensors: speed, cadence, and torque, all working together to give you the most performance when you most need it. Additionally, the mid drive motor is located in the lowest point of the frame, ensuring a lower center of gravity and more balanced weight distribution for stable handling.

Can I accelerate using a manually operated throttle?

The CERO One is a Class 1 e-bike, which means that it does not have a manual throttle to accelerate. Class 1 e-bikes receive motor assist only when pedaled, and the motor assistance cuts off at 20 mph as required by law.

Do I need to pedal?

Yes! Our electric motor gives you a “pedal assist” that provides you with necessary push to ride faster and with less effort. Plus, since your legs are providing the propulsion, you have more control over the bike, which is especially important if you are carrying heavy loads. These type of bikes are sometimes referred to as “pedelecs” and the great news is that you’ll still get a nice workout as you pedal!

How fast does it go?

The Shimano E6100 motor will provide you pedaling assistance up to the legal limit of 20 mph. However, the bike can go faster than 20mph down hills or with significant pedaling effort.

Can I ride this electric bike in the rain?

Yes. Our bikes, battery, and electric system are designed to ride in the rain without any problems. But please do not submerge the bicycle in water or use high-pressure sprayers to clean the bike. Remember to ride safely whenever it is wet!

Can I use any of your baskets on the rear and front racks?

Can I transport another adult on the front or rear racks?
